Overseas students studying and graduating in Adelaide will experience life in the fifth-largest Australian city, having a relaxed lifestyle, with little of the traffic congestion experienced by the larger capitals. It ranks within the top ten most livable cities index, as compiled by The Economist Intelligence Unit.The city centre lies around 10 km inland from suburban beaches and 16 km from Mount Lofty Summit, the highest peak of the Ranges, which overlooks the city.
Adelaide has a Mediterranean climate with hot, mostly dry summers. While most of Adelaide's rainfall occurs in the winter months, it is Australia's driest capital city. Maximum temperatures in the hottest months average around 29°C but can peak in the mid-40s, while winter maximums average around 16°C. Adelaide is also an education hub attracting many international students. The city is home to three major South-Australian universities and campuses of two reputable international universities. Also, there are more than fifty TAFE SA campuses throughout the state.
